It’s no surprise that freshman year is the easiest year of high school. However, most students take this time to slack off and enjoy the transition from middle school to high school. This is the perfect opportunity to distinguish yourself academically.
The first tip to being top of you class is keeping you grades as high as you can during Freshman year. This is crucial to stepping yourself up. Because the workload won’t be as strenuous, its should be relatively easy to do this. As the four years progress, the level of difficulty in your classes will also increase. If your freshman year is good, you’ll be able to fall back on it if your other years aren’t as top notch. Of course, this does not mean that a good freshman year will guarantee automatic success, but it will pave the way for an easier journey. No matter what, make sure your freshman year starts off great to have a strong start to the academic competition.
Secondly, no matter what you do, whether its a daily grade assignment, homework, or a major grade, aim for a high “A”. This is extremely important. Although you may not necessarily attain this each and every time, you will have the mindset to do your best in everything you do and still attain a high grade. This is the psychology of ambition. According to Dr. Schmidt, a premier psychologist in the American Psychology Association, having a high ambition leads to more success. The best thing to do is aim for the highest, and land among the stars.
Finally, don’t skip out on any grades, or take that “L”. No matter how hopeless the assignment is, still do it. Any grade is better than a zero. Don’t allow your pessimism to sabotage your grade. Remember you have a goal in mind and you need to stay focused.
No matter how hard it may seem, you can do this. As long as you put the work in, you will be successful in high school.
